The Aboriginal Safe and Strong Families Program is an NSW Department of Communities and Justice -Community and Family Support (CAFS) funded program.
Bungree’s Aboriginal Safe and Strong Families Program will be delivered to eligible families in Cessnock and Maitland regions.
The program aims to deliver responsive and flexible prevention and early help and support services that meet the needs of children, young people families and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability such as family violence.
The primary focus of the program is the safety, welfare and wellbeing of our people experiencing vulnerabilities and to reduce the risk of early entry into the child protection system.
Out target cohort includes:
- Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities
- 0-5 year olds
- Children and young people at risk of disengagement from school, family and community
- young parents with known vulnerabilities or who are experiencing a number of hardships
- children and young people affected by mental health condition/s
Our Program will be underpinned by the following practicing principles, Person Centred, Strengths Based, Evidence Informed, Holistic and collaborative, Capacity building, Trauma Informed and by Flexible and responsive.
Access and Eligibility
This is program is aimed at supporting children and young people and their families living in Cessnock and Maitland regions.
Access to our Bungree Aboriginal Safe and Strong Program can be provided by referrals from government, non-government agencies and/or self-referral.
